NEW CHATTER EDITOR?
I will soon be transferring to the Court office, which means the
word processor will be getting a new operator and the Chatter
will be getting a new editor.
Unfortunately, no one has been
appointed to the position as yet, so I cannot introduce the new
person to you.
I have enjoyed editing the paper.
Many different
individuals have contributed articles and "stuff" to the Chatter
each month and
have made may job much easier.
I know you will
continue to be just as much help to the new editor.

DOSSIERS FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Annual Law Enforcement Ski Race was held in Vail on March
2nd. Any and all persons working for law enforcement agencies in
Colorado were invited to participate. The races were held slalom
style on the Gold Peak Course . (expert's course).
Each team
consisted of three members and all the teams were divided into
three categories: expert; intermediate, and beginners. Thornton
was represented by Marilyn Hoskins, Joel Sidell, and Jay Steele,
who entered in the intermediate category. Marilyn, Joel, and Jay
placed 4th and were shy 1/l0Cth of a second from placing 3rd and
winning a trophy. Since the times were so close, the judges were
going to verify the final ti_mes and get back to everyone, so we
are all keeping our fingers crossed awaiting confirmation.
Marilyn had the third fastest time for women and Jay was the
fifth fastest man racing.
Not only that, but Thornton had the
only coed team out of all the participants.Have som~ new additions to the force this month. They are:
Dona
Maloy, Frank Green and Thomas Manka to the ranks of Patrol and
Jane Barton in dispatch.
~
Mary Blagg has turned in her resignation effective April 8th.
She and Bim are moving to Huntington Beach, California to live on
the shoreline and bask in the sunlight and show us all up with
the fantastic tans that Mary gets.
Mary and Bim are expecting
their first child sometime the first part of September.
We hate
to see you go Mary, but good luck!
Have a few changes going on in the department as far as training
is concerned. Every two weeks one of the detectives works patrol
{ in uniform nonetheless) and a patrolman becomes a wandering
detective for the same two weeks.
The program was instituted to
make everyone more aware of every phase of an investigation.
Summer's just around the corner and we can't wait for the wet and
wooly experience of shooting a rapid in a rubber life boat,
camping along the river and, of course, sitting around a camp
fire late at night.
The first t~ip takes off the first week in
May and is being put on by Rocky Mountain River Expeditions.
If
you would like more information, do not hesitate to get in touch
with Joel Sidell. I know you would have a blast.
