SO YOU'RE GOING ON VACATION!

Maybe it's a tour through the
Colorado Rockies, a trip to the
California coast or even a journey
abroad; wherever, it means you will bE
out of the COMPRECARE service area.
It is not something you want to think
about, but what if you or one of your

while out of the service area?
COMPRECARE will cover you for out of
the area medical emergencies, but to
assure coverage you, as a member,
have certain responsibilities.
The most important thing·to
remember is that you must notify
COMPRECARE of an out of the area
medical emergency within 72 hours in
order to assure coverage.
If continuing care is needed, prior authorization must be obtained from COMPRECARE.
Advise your attending physician to
call COMPRECARE collect.
What exactly does COY~RECARE
consider a.medical emergency? A.~
"emergency" is the sudden and
unexpected onset of a condition
requiring medical or surgical care
which you, as a member, secure
immediately after the onset (or as
soon thereafter as the care can be
made available) but, in any case, no
later than 24 hours after the onset.
For payment of your claim,
present your ID card to the provider
of service, if they accept it they
can then direct bill COMPRECAP~. If
you pay the bill, COMPRECARE will
need for you to submit an itemized
statement with diagnosis information
and proof of payment for reimbursement
